Crieff Hydro, one of Scotland’s most popular leisure resorts, welcomed Britain’s most successful female Olympian, Dame Katherine Grainger, to officially open its new £220k fitness studio.

Katherine, a six-time world champion rower with five Olympic medals to her name, was on hand to launch the new fitness studio which boasts the biggest custom-built Queenax fitness machine in Scotland.

Queenax is a multi-functional customised rig that has more than 70 easy to change accessories to keep users engaged with fun circuits and unique group classes, which range from low to high intensity, such as Queenax Boost, Queenax Core, Queenax Team and Queenax Social Circuits.

The new studio now offers 253 classes up from 91 per month, and includes studio cycling with 16 new spinning bikes and up to 1,800 unique virtual classes, including virtual boxing, virtual core, virtual kickbox and virtual insanity.

Stephen Leckie, CEO of Crieff Hydro family of hotels, commented: “We’re delighted with our new fitness studio which offers state-of-the-art equipment, including the new Queenax machine which is certainly the first of its kind in Crieff. We have invested a significant amount of money in our new studio to offer members a unique experience and a marketing leading range of fitness classes, including virtual classes, which cannot be found anywhere else in Perthshire.”

The new fitness studio is open to residents and non-residents. Non members can also access the facilities, however Crieff Hydro leisure club members also receive the benefit of 10% off stays at any of the hotels within the Crieff Hydro family, plus 10% off the hotel food outlets, Action Glen, horse riding, spa treatments at Crieff and Peebles Hydro, BIG country childcare and the tennis club.
