Armed with not much more than a notebook, pen, a laptop and a mobile phone, on 1st September 2002, a wee marketing agency that was soon to become Volpa, was born in our founder’s spare bedroom. With a vision, even then, to develop a truly integrated agency offering, what started as one person is now a collective of very skilled individuals offering clients a strategic one stop shop spanning the full marketing discipline.
We’re often asked what our name means. And how we came up with it. It wasn’t immediate. In fact we initially traded as Thunder Communications for the first couple of years before hitting on the idea of Volpa, a variation on the Latin word for Fox, the founder’s surname. We tagged on the cunningly good publicity strapline and we’ve been cunningly good ever since.
Over the years we’ve expanded our team and our services, bending and flexing with the needs of our clients, growing up during the whole digital revolution, embracing the changes to print, ditching faxed (yes, faxed!) press releases in favour of digital distribution methods, and generally honing our trade during one of the most seismic technology shifts in our industry to new and very many ways of communicating with customers.
Like the geeks at a party, we were frequently first on the scene, trying out new technologies, experimenting with everything new and gaining a level of insight that only comes with being digital natives.
It wasn’t long before we were winning awards for our work and delivering fantastic work for our clients. And we’ll be doing it for many years to come.
