VISIT CRIEFF: The Crieff Card

About This Project

Our Client:

Crieff BID promotes the Perthshire town of Crieff as a vibrant, attractive and safe place to work, shop, visit and live. A key priority is to build a stronger tourism and events-based economy, but also to increase and retain spend within the town. Alongside our integrated ‘Visit Crieff’ campaign aimed at attracting national and international visitors to Crieff, Crieff BID developed “The Crieff Card.” This is a Mastercard-based gift card which works in the same way as store gift cards and can be used across the whole town to boost local spending in Crieff.

Volpa’s Cunningly Good solution:

Volpa was tasked with launching the card, with a campaign that would encourage both retailers and the general public to take part. We worked with the board at Crieff Bid to create a vibrant, attractive design that included the ‘Visit Crieff’ branding. It was important to keep the artwork clear and uncluttered, to fit the small credit-card size and ensure that the card numbers could be easily read.  Co-ordinating stickers were also designed, to be displayed in the windows of the businesses that accept the card alongside giant cards for press photoshoots, till wobblers and card gift wallets.

The Crieff Card is about encouraging people to keep their cash in Crieff. The card launched in May and is available to buy online and in participating shops. This exciting new gift card initiative has received enthusiastic backing from Crieff’s business community. To date, fifty-three outlets have now signed up to accept The Crieff Card, which will be promoted across Perthshire and beyond.

Local businesses will benefit from the co-ordinated promotion and The Crieff Card is a wonderful way for recipients to discover new places on their doorstep. Studies show that most people redeeming their Gift Card spend up to 40% more than its value. Crieff Bid will also benefit from the ability to track and report on local spending.

Neil Combe, Manager of Crieff BID, said: “I’m absolutely delighted by the positive response from the local business community and expect many more outlets to sign up.

“We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful range of independent businesses here in Crieff and The Crieff Card is a great opportunity for local traders to promote their unique offering and for local people to show their support by purchasing these cards as gifts.”
